On Sunday 24th August, the Bucketty, Laguna and Wollombi Bushfire Brigades will be holding a joint “Get Prepared” event on the Village Green Laguna.
- 10:00am -12:00pm
- 1:00pm – 3:00pm
Our next fire season is approaching and now is the time to prepare your property.
We will be demonstrating:
- What happens when a fire truck arrives to perform property protection against an approaching fire
- How to setup and use a portable pump to defend against ember attack
- How to use other equipment to prepare and defend your property
Come down to the oval and find out more about:
- Preparing your property to reduce fire risk
- What you can do to make your property easier to defend
- Using a firefighting hose
- How to use equipment such as blowers, rake hoes, backpack sprays
Come and talk to us about:
- Any concerns you may have about the coming fire season
- What you can do now to reduce your risk
- Your fire plan
- Safe pile burning
We will be running 2 sessions running for about 2 hours total. Each session will include 3 simultaneous demonstrations running every 30 minutes. Come join us for part of it or pick and choose what you need to see.
One of the sessions will be offered as women only, with women members providing the information and demonstration.
If you are new to the valley, not experienced with firefighting equipment or are just unsure about what you need to do this is an ideal opportunity to get some advice and see for yourself what can be done.
